The dust has settled and the studio is getting back to a manageable routine. When the Siletz Bay Music Festival closed on July 5, the central Oregon coast had been treated to two weeks of wonderful world-class music. Jeri and I were fortunate to be the event photographers for the entire Festival. Watching the energy and passion that flows from Maestro Yaacov Bergman is creativity at its apex. From the chamber groups to jazz, and from theatre to the festival orchestra, the music was exquisite.
Pianist, Jerry Robbins and violist, Ronald Arron were two of the featured musicians to perform during the Festival. Their performances were wonderful. I was impressed with the approachability and patience of both musicians. During the hard work of rehearsals and preparation for the concerts, both musicians were gracious about the presence of photographers.
In addition to photographing the making of wonderful music, we listened as Mr. Robbins explained and interpreted the music to his fellow musicians. His knowledge and comprehensive explanation was a backdrop to the rehearsal. Very interesting for my classical music naive mind.
I will have more to post about the Siletz Bay Music Festival. The editing process continues.
It’s August, so it must be time to head to Vancouver, Washington for the 2012 version of the Columbia River Concours d’Elegance. This is a photo gig that I look forward to every year. It is about 200 elegant, rare and historical cars displayed around the stately mansions of Officers Row at the Historic Fort Vancouver. The cars and environment create an incredible experience that is, in itself, rare.
The Rotary Clubs of Vancouver Metro Sunset and West Linn partner to put on this event. Revenue from this event supports local and international Rotary programs. I am honored to support the programs of Rotary by being the event photographer.

Residents and visitors in Lincoln City, Oregon have an extraordinary opportunity to see world class musicians perform remarkable music from now through June 24. Maestro Yaacov Bergman has assembled a very strong lineup of musicians to satisfy a wide range of musical palettes. I am fortunate to be the event photographer for this event. I will be posting photographs from rehearsals and performances. I am fascinated to watch the musical conversation and collaboration between the musicians. Their passion and energy is only eclipsed by their talent. Very exciting.
It was a magical moment!
The Siletz Bay Music Festival brings world-class music to audiences in Lincoln City, Oregon. It is my privilege to be their photographer. Lindsay Deutsch and Gerald Robbins had the audience spellbound with their recital of Brahms and Gershwin.
Video and audio recordings can capture the total performance. I believe there is a place for a different kind of record. I enjoy the challenge of capturing the energy and musical conversation with a still photograph. There are interesting moments of intensity that can only be celebrated with a photograph.
Siletz Bay - Lincoln City, Oregon
Sunday afternoon I had the good fortune to be the event photographer for a fundraiser event for the Siletz Bay Music Festival. Pianist, Gerald Robbins and violinist, Lindsay Deutsch provided a wonderful afternoon of music in the intimate setting of the new Eventuary in Lincoln City, Oregon. I will be posting photographs of the concert in the next few days. We are very fortunate to have these opportunities on the central Oregon coast.
I have been looking forward to launching this website for several months. It is going to allow for better interaction between Blue Water Photography and my clients. I will be posting a lot of information that will help you get the most value out of my photography.
Thanks to Brian at Spoonfed Group for his hard work on getting this website transitioned and functional. He is brilliant with the “under the hood” website details.
I am getting ready for a busy season of weddings and family portraits. The spring and summer calendar is starting to fill. It is always nice to have enough time to plan the photography session to insure that it happens smoothly.
Thank you for stopping by.
For the last several years I have been creating the executive portraits for staff and board members of the North Lincoln Hospital Foundation. It is an honor to work with a group of people who are so focused on strengthening our local medical services. I look forward to chatting with them as we prepare for the photoshoot. What an interesting and passionate group of people!
It is opportunities like this that make living and working in a small town so rewarding.
The new website is finally taking shape. I want the content to be meaningful and easy to find. That means it needs to be organized. This organization thing is what takes the time. I find that my ideas do not automatically synchronize with the website format. To its credit, WordPress has taken the pain out of the process.
It is time for a new look for the Blue Water Photography website. This website answers my need to keep my clients and friends up to date on current projects and events at Blue Water Photography. I have been busy with portraiture in the studio and a variety of location projects. I will be posting updates on a regular basis. Although I have had a blog, this is a new approach. It will be fun and a little challenging.
