Blue Water Photography

Blue Water Photography has developed into a full-service photography studio located in Lincoln City on the beautiful Oregon coast. Photographing people at important times in their life provides Bob with many interesting photographic opportunities. Whether it is a senior getting ready to graduate from high school or a couple experiencing the excitement of their wedding day, Bob provides photography that reflects the unique personalities and experiences of his clients. Many families gather on the Oregon coast for their reunions. These occasions require a photographer experienced in working with large groups in photographically challenging situations.

Commercial photography has become a cornerstone for Blue Water Photography. Bob provides architectural photography services. This includes both interior and exterior photography for real estate and vacation rental properties. With access to pilots and aircraft, Bob is able to serve clients with a variety of aerial photography services.

With over forty years of photography experience, Bob continues his photography education. He belongs to professional photography organizations including: Professional Photographers of Oregon, Portland Metropolitan Photographers Association, Professional Photographers of America and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. Each of these organizations provides a variety of opportunities for continuing photography education.

Bob completed the requirements to become one of nine Certified Professional Photographers in the State of Oregon in 2010. This status is the result of successfully completing both an in-depth written examination and a portfolio review. The knowledge required for certification insures that the photographer can consistently provide professional quality work.

Bob competes in both regional and international photography competitions. His work has received merit and been exhibited at regional and international competitions. Select professional photography competitions are held under stringent guidelines and judged according to established criteria. Being successful in the competition demands attention to detail and a commitment to the highest creative and technical standards.

Blue Water Photography operates under a simple concept. The client is the reason the studio exists. From the pre-planning consultation to delivery of the final photographs or framed print, the client’s needs and interests are the driving force.

The Siletz Bay Music Festival – 2015

The dust has settled and the studio is getting back to a manageable routine. When the Siletz Bay Music Festival closed on July 5, the central Oregon coast had been treated to two weeks of wonderful world-class music. Jeri and I were fortunate to be the event photographers for the entire Festival. Watching the energy and passion that flows from Maestro Yaacov Bergman is creativity at its apex. From the chamber groups to jazz, and from theatre to the festival orchestra, the music was exquisite.

Pianist, Jerry Robbins and violist, Ronald Arron were two of the featured musicians to perform during the Festival. Their performances were wonderful. I was impressed with the approachability and patience of both musicians. During the hard work of rehearsals and preparation for the concerts, both musicians were gracious about the presence of photographers.

In addition to photographing the making of wonderful music, we listened as Mr. Robbins explained and interpreted the music to his fellow musicians. His knowledge and comprehensive explanation was a backdrop to the rehearsal. Very interesting for my classical music naive mind.

I will have more to post about the Siletz Bay Music Festival. The editing process continues.

Columbia River Concours d’Elegance 2012

It’s August, so it must be time to head to Vancouver, Washington for the 2012 version of the Columbia River Concours d’Elegance. This is a photo gig that I look forward to every year. It is about 200 elegant, rare and historical cars displayed around the stately mansions of Officers Row at the Historic Fort Vancouver. The cars and environment create an incredible experience that is, in itself, rare.

The Rotary Clubs of Vancouver Metro Sunset and West Linn partner to put on this event. Revenue from this event supports local and international Rotary programs. I am honored to support the programs of Rotary by being the event photographer.

Siletz Bay Music Festival Fundraising Recital

It was a magical moment!

The Siletz Bay Music Festival brings world-class music to audiences in Lincoln City, Oregon. It is my privilege to be their photographer. Lindsay Deutsch and Gerald Robbins had the audience spellbound with their recital of Brahms and Gershwin.

Video and audio recordings can capture the total performance. I believe there is a place for a different kind of record. I enjoy the challenge of capturing the energy and musical conversation with a still photograph. There are interesting moments of intensity that can only be celebrated with a photograph.

Siletz Bay Music Festival – A taste of what we’re in for this summer!

Sunday afternoon I had the good fortune to be the event photographer for a fundraiser event for the Siletz Bay Music Festival. Pianist, Gerald Robbins and violinist, Lindsay Deutsch provided a wonderful afternoon of music in the intimate setting of the new Eventuary in Lincoln City, Oregon. I will be posting photographs of the concert in the next few days. We are very fortunate to have these opportunities on the central Oregon coast.
